Barry University Alumni Association

Barry University Alumni Association exists to promote the mission of the University through establishment of mutually beneficial relations between the University and its alumni, and to help support the University through growth, scholarships, and development.

The Alumni of Tomorrow Scholarship was established in 2000 by Barry University Alumni Association to cultivate future alumni leaders who demonstrate a sense of enthusiastic commitment to the Alumni Association by recognizing their time dedicated to various programs and their potential for leadership.

The scholarship program is made possible through the collective efforts of students, alumni and friends of Barry University. A majority of the funding for the program comes from the Barry University Alumni Association License Plate Program.

Impact

The stories below are from (edited for anonymity) Barry University students who were in need of financial aid and scholarship assistance.

“Because of this scholarship, I am able to afford my education and relieve some of the burden of paying for college; which my mother has graciously taken upon herself. I have been working industriously in my academic career and extra-curricular activities here at Barry University. I am happy that my hard work and determination has been rewarded.”

“I am extremely happy and want to thank you personally for your generosity. Without scholarship patrons like you, there would be many students such as myself unable to pursue the career they’ve dreamed of.”

“I am most grateful to the Alumni Association for allowing me this opportunity. I consider myself fortunate to be able to attend Barry University.”

“This scholarship will help me fulfill my lifelong dream of completing my education at Barry University. I had attempted once before but due to family obligations, I had to stop attending this prestigious learning institution. There have been additional obstacles that interfered with my continued education besides being a single parent and having the responsibility of sole provider for my family. Most recently, after almost 20 years of employment with my company, my position was eliminated and my tuition reimbursement ceased. My fear was that due to my financial situation I would not be able to continue. With this scholarship, I can continue attending Barry and hope to graduate in the future. My dream of walking across the stage and being handed the diploma would make me the first individual in my family to graduate with a bachelor’s degree.”
