Irene B. Maliga
Irene B. Maliga was born in Chicago on June 10, 1924. She attended schools in Chicago and at the age of twenty-two entered the Adrian Dominican Congregation. She became an educator and taught in Detroit for 15 years, in Chicago for 10 years, and for 26 years in Miami. She was the first principal of St. Agnes Elementary School when it opened in 1973. In 1979, she joined the faculty at LaSalle High School. In 1999, she retired and volunteered at the Archives at Barry University. She became an Adrian Dominican Associate in 1993.
The Irene B. Maliga Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 by the estate of Irene Maliga to aid a Barry University student majoring in Education. Irene died on November 25, 2003.
