Patricia Minnaugh was a native of Erie, Pennsylvanian. She moved to Miami, Florida in 1954 to attend Barry University. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in drama in 1958, she taught at Thomas Jefferson Junior High. She later obtained a master’s in fine arts from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and began teaching at Barry in 1966. She served on Barry University Alumni Board of Directors from 1977 – 1978. Ms. Minnaugh was named a full professor in 1990.
Ms. Minnaugh was a nationally acclaimed puppeteer. She was elected to the national Board of Directors for Puppeteers of America in 1990. She served as director of the theater department at Barry University until her death on June 18, 1991. In 1990, Patricia established the Paul and Mary Minnaugh Scholarship to honor her parents and assist students majoring in Theater. After her death in 1991, the scholarship was renamed the Minnaugh Family Memorial Scholarship to include Patricia with additional gifts in her memory from friends and collegues.
