Sister Paul J. Villemure
Sister Paul James Villemure was born in Newberry, Michigan on November 28, 1938. She received her BA from Siena Heights College and a doctorate in mathematics from Notre Dame University in 1954. She arrived at Barry in 1959 as a mathematics instructor and, over the years, was promoted to full Professor of Mathematics. She served first as Director of the Barry Mathematics Program and then as Chair of the Department of Mathematics. She also supervised Barry’s Math Skills Clinic.
The Sister Paul J. Villemure Scholarship was established in 2012 by members of the Villemure family to provide financial assistance to deserving math or computer students at Barry University. After her retirement on May 2013, the Board of Trustees of Barry University paid special tribute to Sister Paul James Villemure, OP, naming her as Faculty Emerita in recognition of her 54 years of service.
