William F. “Bill” Reifsnider
William F. “Bill” Reifsnider was an accomplished student-athlete and a gifted scholar. He was a four-year starter for the Buccaneers baseball team, named both the Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and Athlete of the year for Barry in 1990. Bill was named a GTE Academic All-American, won the Woody Hayes National Scholar-Athlete Award, and received a NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship in 1990. In addition, Bill was Barry’s first Rhodes Scholar candidate. In 1996, Barry University recognized Bill’s accomplishments by inducting him into the Barry University Athletic Wall of Honor. After graduating, Bill took his desire to teach and coach baseball to Czechoslovakia where his talents enriched the lives of children in a nation giving birth to a more democratic society. The Reifsnider family and friends of Bill desire that recipients of this scholarship will know of the kindness of the man for whom the award is named and his desire in life to “pay it forward.” The William F. Reifsnider Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a member of the Barry University baseball team.
