Grace R. Southmayd Memorial Scholarship

The Grace R. Southmayd Scholarship is an endowed scholarship awarded to a Barry University fulltime graduate or undergraduate student enrolled in the Adrian Dominican School of Education who is majoring in Education or in a Counseling Education program.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a 3.0 or greater cumulative GPA
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from an individual not connected to Barry University, highlighting the character and oral, as well as ethical strengths of the applicant and comments as to why the writer feels the applicant will make a difference in his/her chosen field and in society as a whole.
  • Submit an essay that, in 300 words or less, describes a community or university related service project of choice that will state specific goals and objectives as well as at least one desired outcome of said program.
  • Demonstrate financial need, determined by Barry University Office of Financial Aid and based on the FAFSA form completion and review

Preference given to Native American applicants

This scholarship is renewable.
